Forest Hills Cougar Cubs received an award for being a new team with the most money raised! We are so grateful to everyone who made a donation or participated in our fundraisers for the March of Dimes. Our total this year was $1,655.74!!

To all parents of 4K or 5K students: the deadline for submitting applications for the 3-4 week Ready to Read summer literacy program is Friday, March 14, 2014. Applications are available at Black Street Early Childhood Center, Bells Elementary, Cottageville Elementary, and Hendersonville Elementary or may be printed from the Title I Website: www.CCSDTitle1.org/ready-to-read

A meeting will be held on March 14, 2014 at 10am in the Colleton County School District Office Conference Room. Call the Title I Office at 843-782-4522 if you have any questions.

Mr. Larry Crapse and the Colleton County School District Parent Involvement Program will present a FREE to the PUBLIC, 4-part course, “Dementia Dialogs,” for those who care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s Dementia, mental illness, or who are preparing care plans. The sessions will be held on Wednesdays (March 19, March 26, April 2, April 9) from 10am to 12 noon in the school board room at the Colleton County Learning Annex (609 Colleton Loop, Walterboro).

The Colleton County School District Parent Involvement Program, Eat Smart Move More Colleton, and local organizations will sponsor a Totally Free Family Field Day on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 10am until 12 noon at Colleton County Middle School. Events include games, prizes, free books, a walking clinic, and a Farmer’s Market. Colleton County residents and their children who attend any public school (grades K-8) are invited to attend and participate.

Palmetto Rural Telephone Coop., VFW Troop 12102, the American Legion, and the Colleton County School District will sponsor the Academic Olympics at the Colleton County High School Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 1, at 6pm. The event will feature Colleton County’s 4th and 5th grade students competing in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies for cash prizes and trophies. The public is invited.

The Colleton County Education Association (Retired and others) will sponsor a FREE to the PUBLIC Gospel Choir Celebration at the Colleton County Middle School Gym at 6pm on Thursday, April 3, featuring the Denmark Tech Gospel Choir and the Colleton County 8th grade Choir.

Governor Nikki Haley visited Forest Hills on Friday, January 10th. She shared a message on bullying and quizzed the students on facts about South Carolina.
